Bach Flowers and Essential Oils for building boundaries and cleansing your space
Sensitivity is a tremendous gift. That being said, if not managed, it can also easily lead to exhaustion and overwhelm.
I believe sensitivity is such a gift because it allows us to pick up all of those delicate energetic nuances and undercurrents. That provide us with so much information about our surroundings, including about dangers and opportunities, and all that beauty that’s always around us.
And it can also be so exhausting and overwhelming at times (so much of the time!) because picking up so much information all day long, every single day, is a lot. (How can you tell I’m also super–sensitive??)

And this is where energetic boundaries and cleansing comes in. It’s essential for anyone who is sensitive. And, as in my not-so-humble opinion, we’re all sensitive (it’s just that some of us are better than others at hiding it 😉), it’s a useful practice for us all.
Boundaries and cleansing are so important because they let us stay attuned and aware of what’s around us, while at the same time reducing sensory overwhelm and clutter, so we remain energetic and healthy.
I’ve written in the past about energetic cleansing, and in this blog I’m starting the conversation up again, this time with a comparison between one of the Bach Flower essences and an Essential Oil.
They are the Bach Flower Walnut and the Essential Oil Lemongrass – both fabulous for building boundaries and cleansing your space. I personally use them both a lot.
So let’s get started!

Walnut and Lemongrass help you stay sensitive and protected, in different ways.
Bach Flower Walnut
Walnut is a Bach Flower remedy, and it works by creating a boundary around you. You could say that it acts like a shield.
Walnut helps you repel emotional and energetic energies from outside of you – things like other people’s moods, opinions, pressures, and the environmental energies.

It is especially helpful for guarding you against external influences (people, ideas, situations, etc.), as well as during times of transition and change.
The Bach Flower Walnut makes it easier for you to remain steady in yourself and have an easier time following your own path, even when things around you are stormy, intense, or powerful. It protects you by helping you not get pulled off track or be overly influenced by what or who is around you.
Essential Oil Lemongrass
Lemongrass is an Essential Oil that works on your external space. In contrast to Walnut, which acts to shield your internal space from what’s outside, Lemongrass focuses on clearing that space around you. This clearing also protects you, simply in a different way.

Lemongrass has an earthy, lemony scent that helps cut through energetic clutter and noise that you find around you. This clutter and noise may include stress left over from difficult situations, people, or conversations, chaotic energy from rushing, or a general sense of mental or emotional muddle.
As Lemongrass clears this space, it becomes easier for you to distinguish between what is yours and what is not (learning about your Human Design will also help you make these distinctions). This helps reduce overwhelm and supports clearer thinking because you no longer have to work so hard to process or protect yourself from all that energetic clutter, or even mistakenly think it’s yours and therefore feel compelled to act on it.

Walnut for boundaries, Lemongrass for clearing
So, to summarize:
- Bach Flower Walnut = builds boundaries between you and your environment
Helps you block out unwanted influences so you remain aligned with yourself.
Works inside your system to keep you on-track and steady. - Essential Oil Lemongrass = cleanses your environment
Helps cleanse your environment so you have more internal clarity.
When the energy around you is clear, your system relaxes.

Walnut and Lemongrass work in opposite directions – one from the inside out, and one from the outside in – and both support self-connection and reduce overwhelm.
I love using the Bach Flower Walnut and the Essential Oil Lemongrass together because they support the same outcome through different means, therefore adding layers of delicious effectiveness and richness. My suggestion: put both in a diffuser together – about 3-4 sprays or 6-8 drops of each (you can vary the amount depending on the size of your room or your personal preference).
Any questions? Speak with me!
And let me know if you want a bottle of either or both. I’d be delighted to send one or both your way!
