I believe in synchronicity. That the right things happen at the perfect time, even if we don’t appreciate it in the moment. And I believe this is true for both the big things and also the small ones. Little ones that sometimes consist of the most amazing and inspirational books showing up at just the right time.

Here are four books that did just that for me, appearing at the perfect moment and inspiring me into action.
I’m also sharing with you a Set Point Practice I created after reading the fourth book on this list. It’s a great practice to help you stay in motion and move toward your goals.

Four Books that Inspire Me
1. Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis
This is the most recent book of the lot I’ve read – I mean, listened to. This was an audiobook, my first, which believe me was super-inspiring in and of itself. It meant that I didn’t have to choose between going for a walk and reading a book; I could do both together. I am now totally converted to audiobooks.
Girl, Stop Apologizing is all about empowering yourself as an ambitious woman and going ahead and unapologetically pursuing your goals. Most of the book involves getting rid of those old and tired excuses that are holding you back, and building strong positive beliefs and habits to fill the vacuum.

Part of what I love about Girl, Stop Apologizing is that Rachel is so down-to-earth and real, not putting on an act for a second that she’s perfect or did it all alone. For me, this helps me believe that I too can do it. Plus there are so many incredible truths and tips in the book. Ten thumbs up!
2. Alchemy: The Dark Art and Curious Science of Creating Magic in Brands, Business, and Life by Rory Sutherland
Although I read this book several years ago, it still stands out for me as a total gem.
In Alchemy, Rory talks about how strategies (including marketing strategies) based on logic tend to fail because we, as a species, are motivated by feelings, irrationality, and, dare one say, magic (and not logic!). The book gives delicious examples of how creativity sprouting from human fallibilities has led to marketing successes.

I love Alchemy for its emphasis on the importance of imagination and creativity, and that the best ideas come to us when we take the time to let them bubble up naturally. Plus Rory is an incredible writer; the book is quite simply a delight to read.
A goal for this year: listen to the audiobook version!
3. The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy
Numbers 3 and 4 on my list of books that inspire are well-known volumes, and for good reason.
The Compound Effect’s premise is simple – that in the same way small amounts of money compound over the years into large sums, so too do incremental acts repeated again and again lead to enormous results over time.
Darren talks about how the compound effect works in both positive and negative directions. Simplifying one of his examples, by eating and exercising well, in ten years you will notice a significant change for the better in your health and fitness. Conversely, the reverse is also true – by eating and exercising poorly, within ten years you will experience a dramatic decline in your health and fitness.

I am inspired by The Compound Effect because it gives me hope that although I entered my profession late in life and still have so much to learn, simply by being consistent in making small (yet strategic) moves every day, I can still enjoy great impact and results. It offers me optimism and lets me dream big.
One thing that’s practical and effective in supporting myself and others in taking consistent action is the Bach Flower blend Get Sh*t Done. Get Sh*t Done helps you shift out of inertia and procrastination so you move forward with the projects and goals that are important to you.

Another incredibly inspiring book.
The Big Leap discusses the concept of internal set points. Gay explains that when we are accustomed to performing at a specific level, whether in business, finance, health, fitness, love, success, joy, or whatever, we can find it difficult (or seemingly impossible) to rise higher than we normally do. This is because our brains have created fixed set points, above which we believe, consciously or subconsciously, that we cannot rise.
However, as soon as we realize that our set points are mere fictions created by our mind, we can surpass them simply by believing we can.
The Big Leap is an incredibly inspiring book for me (indeed, I’ve read it twice and based my set point practice, which I share below, on it) because it reminds me how my belief in myself is so critical. This is buffered from my life experiences. Since my twenties I have noticed how when I know I will succeed in something – and when I say “know”, I mean really and truly know, from my deepest core – then I do indeed succeed. And every time I have failed, it has been preceded by my belief – consciously or subconsciously – that that’s what’s going to happen.

This importance of believing in ourselves is why I created my Bach Flower blend Confidence. Confidence is amazing at helping you move past fears, anxieties, and lack of confidence. This is so important because the more confident we feel (to the extent we avoid hubris), the easier it is for us to reach our goals.
Action and Set Point
Moving beyond our Set Point
The Big Leap reminded me how often I let my internal set points keep me from moving forward. That’s what led me to create my Set Point Practice – a way to make sure I’m continually expanding what is possible for myself. It’s been a valuable tool for me so I’m sharing it with you.
Those of you who know me more deeply will see how my Set Point Practice is uniquely geared toward me personally, with a focus on listening to my inner voice, increasing self-confidence, and giving myself permission to rest. Feel free to adjust it to focus on areas where you most wish to raise your own set point.

A key point of the Set Point practice: as wonderful as inspiration feels in the moment, its true power comes from combining it with action. Without movement, inspiration remains stuck as a mere idea, if a glorious one. When you take what inspires you and put it into action, that’s the recipe for moving toward your goals.
For me, this is where my Set Point Practice helps me. It supports me in transforming inspiration into results. I have the points I reproduce for you below printed out and taped to the wall over my computer, so it’s always in easy sight. When I review it I am reminded to remain in action and aim high.

Sat-Sung’s Set Point Practice
1. Start with Intention
♥ Today’s goal is to raise my set point to amazingness.
I’m aiming for the best version of myself, whatever that looks like today. Raising my set point is about listening to my inner voice, strengthening and trusting it, and taking the steps that truly raise my energy, ambition, and alignment with my vision – steps that bring me to success. Whether these steps are big leaps or bold strides, they’re all part of my journey.

2. Acknowledge Successes
I track actions, achievements, and decisions that reflect my intentions. I select meaningful moves I’m proud of, moments that raise my set point.
For example:
♥ I got through five emails that were weighing on me and it felt like clearing a huge hurdle.
♥ I ran, focusing on building strength and resilience.
♥ I chose to rest today, and it felt powerful to trust myself.

3. Learn from Missed Opportunities
I also reflect on tasks I didn’t complete and ask myself why they didn’t happen. I use this insight as fuel for raising my set point.
♥ Was it a misalignment with my energy?
♥ Was it procrastination, distraction, or emotional overload?
♥ Was I paying too much attention to societal expectations rather than listening to my inner voice?
♥ Was I sinking into drama instead of living my life with alignment and ease?
♥ What can I adjust to ensure my day feels more satisfying and successful tomorrow?
Reframing these moments helps me rise to my highest self, and this is far more productive and useful than seeing them as failures or berating myself.

4. Stay Open to Big Leaps
I’m not limited to incremental progress. I honour my potential for massive shifts. I am open to exponential growth, breakthroughs, and huge strides forward. I celebrate and own those moments fully, and they are an important part of raising my set point to extraordinary levels.
My Set Point Practice is rooted in self-trust, ambition, and alignment. By listening to my inner voice and staying open to big leaps, I am building a life aligned with energy and vision. Each day is an opportunity to refine, adjust, and raise my set point even higher.

Inspiration into Action brings Results
Combining inspiration and action creates real change and results. This can show up in any form or fashion, including through books, mindset shifts (such as a Set Point Practice), Bach Flowers, or Human Design. If you’re curious, I have Bach Flower blends that help with focus, confidence, and getting things done – all blends that have been and continue to be invaluable in my own journey. But more than anything, I’d love to hear from you. What books have inspired you lately? What’s helped you move from inspiration into action?
Have an incredible and inspired day, filled with ideas, action, and impact.
